The T20 World Cup 2024 schedule was announced by ICC on Friday and India are set to open their campaign against Ireland on 5 June in New York. The marquee India vs Pakistan clash will also take place in New York on 9 June. Apart from Ireland and Pakistan, USA and Canada will also be part of India’s group. The Men in Blue will face the USA on 12 June in New York, before rounding off their group stage against Canada in Florida on 15 June.
Matches will be held at venues across United States of America and the Caribbean. The venues hosting the games are New York, Dallas and Florida in the USA, and Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, St Lucia, St Vincent and Grenadines, Antigua, and Barbados.
The tournament will kickstart on 1 June with hosts USA taking on Canada in Dallas. A day later, on 2 June, co-hosts West Indies will face Papua New Guinea in Guyana.

England, the defending champions, will begin their campaign against Scotland on 4 June in Barbados. Pakistan, runners-up of the previous edition, will take on USA in Dallas on 6 June.
2021 champions Australia will take on Oman in their campaign opener in Barbados. Australia will then face England on 8 June in Barbados.
ICC CEO Geoff Allardice said that the upcoming T20 World Cup promises to be an exciting spectacle. “The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 marks an exciting expansion of our sport with more teams than ever before set to compete in this event. It’s going to be an incredible spectacle bringing together 20 international teams from Africa, the Americas, Asia, East-Asia Pacific and Europe.
“The release of the fixtures is made even more exciting for fans as we enter a new frontier, with the USA hosting a major ICC event for the first time. With 16 matches being played across three venues in the USA, it allows us to make a statement in the world’s biggest sports market,” he said in a press release.
The 2024 T20 World Cup, the second to be hosted in the West Indies and the first in the USA, will begin on 1 June and will introduce a new format this time around. With the number of teams having gone up to 20 from 16 in the previous edition, teams have been divided into four groups of five.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super Eight stage, with all eight teams being divided into two groups of four. The top two teams from each Super Eight group will then qualify for the semi-finals, which will be followed by the final.
