How much is your cup of latte in 2025?

On a daily basis, I drink 2 cups of coffee on average. It used to be one Starbucks in the morning and another 3 in 1 in the afternoon. These days, I do not drink either anymore. Starbucks is because I feel the price is just too high for the quality it is giving me. 3 in 1 is because I feel that it is just too sweet and I am getting old… So, do I save a lot of money these days then?

Price of coffee, dropping?

I told my wife that these days, the price of cup of coffee has been on a downtrend. Major reason is because of competition. More brands are coming meaning more choices. Unless coffee drinkers also rise in tandem or faster, then some brands would see the erosion of the number of customers. To attract them back, it’s either because their coffee is better or their price is lower. So, where do you get your cup of coffee?

I have tried all but two among the brands below

Below are all the choices from a post in FB I saw. How many of the brands below have you tried before? I have NOT yet tried Ken Nguyen (I do not know where can I find this brand?!), Koppiku (never seen before). I am proud to say I have tried all the rest before! Haha. Okay, some just once and I just told my wife a few weeks back that I wanted to buy Costa latte but when I came back to the car, I did not. She asked why, I said, “It’s too expensive!” So, I am also a price conscious consumer too!

My favourite few? Which I continue to buy?

ZUS, definitely. Family Mart, since they have ice-cream which I also like. Coffee Bean, the only place I am willing to pay full price. The rest are just making up the numbers such as when they are the only choice available or they happened to have some promotion with my credit cards. What about you? What are the choices you always go to?

Cheapest vs most expensive, how much do I save every year?

Cheapest would be Family Mart at RM3.90 and the most expensive is Starbucks at RM15.90. Difference is RM12 per cup. If we drink twice per day by opting for the cheapest, the total savings is quite a huge figure.

RM12 x 2 (per day) x 365 (per year) = RM8,760.

Take this and go vacation you deserve!

This amount is enough for a trip to Japan for two! Hahaha. RM4,000 for a return ticket for two pax. RM2,800 ((hotel for 7 nights). RM2,000 for food for 7 days. Typical bowl of Ramen is RM25-30. If you go to Yoshinoya, then prices can be even lower, maybe RM15-20 per meal.

Take a look at the below. Flights can be cheaper but with more stops, so, I think better not lah.

Yes, sometimes it’s funny when we really calculate and realize that every cup of coffee we drink may be stopping us from going for a holiday to Japan. By the way, there are cheaper options yeah. It does not need to be to Japan only. Reason for Japan is because I just came back from Fukuoka.
